Discussions about the football matches / EURO 2020 previews
« on: July 02, 2021, 07:05:55 PM »
Corner-stats.com team welcome to all football fans! Final stages are coming at EURO 2020 and we wish you all a great football.
In this preview, we will consider the statistics of violations by teams. We want to note right away that the current EURO is marked by a small number of cards and fouls. Perhaps this is due to a decrease in the intensity of the teams' play in the context of the coronavirus, or perhaps this is a long-term trend. A comparison of the last three EUROs clearly demonstrates this:

                     Foul   Cards
EURO 2012    4.03   27.87
EURO 2016    3.86   24.31
EURO 2020    3.05   21.95

Let's analyze in more detail the statistics of the teams of Ukraine and England, which will play the last quarter-final on Saturday. Note that both teams had an ambiguous previous meetings at EURO, alternating between a good game and a game close to failure.
The national team of Ukraine, after the appointment of Andriy Shevchenko as the head coach, switched to more technical football with greater ball control, which, among other things, influenced a small number of team fouls. Ukraine has the lowest individual total fouls at EURO 2020 (7.75). The Ukrainian players received only 3 cards, while 2 of them were not received for a foul (Shaparenko for simulation, Yarmolenko for disputes with a referee). One more card, which is not counted, was received by Dovbyk in extra time for taking off his shirt after scoring a goal.
In turn, England have an average individual total fouls of 11.0 with 4 cards (3 of them were shown in the 1/8 match against Germany).
The ratio of fouls to cards is one of the lowest at EURO for both Ukraine and England (10.33 and 11.0), that is, if the teams foul, then these fouls are not rough.
In addition, we will consider the statistics of tackles and aerials of the teams, which affects violations. Ukraine has a larger team total tackles (15.5 against 10.25 for England), but England is leading in aerials won (18.0 against 8.25).
For other statistics for the EURO 2020 teams, as well as for the ratio of statistics, see Corner-stats.com https://corner-stats.com/european-championships/national/tournament/71
Once again, we wish you all good football, and may the strongest win!

Graphs added to interval tables

The Corner-stats.com team has developed a useful addition to intervals tables. Recall that the intervals tables allow you to compare the statistics of teams or referees at different intervals of a match (15 minutes each). And the new development of our service allows you to view these statistics in the form of graphs.

The X-axis of the graph contains the match intervals (0-15, 16-30 ... 76-FT), and the Y-axis is the value of the team's (referee's) statistical indicator on the interval (as a percentage of the full match). By comparing graphs, Corner-stats.com users have the ability to easily analyze the game of teams or referees by intervals and determine the most interesting intervals for the upcoming match. Please note that the graphs are available for tables of intervals of goals, corners and cards of almost all tournaments on the service Corner-stats.com, as well as for all other types of statistics (fouls, shots, offsides, throw-ins ...) for the top 30 most popular leagues of the world. In addition, the intervals graphs are also present in the referees statistics of a tournament.

Real Madrid - Chelsea 27/04/2021. CL semi final (1st match). Statistical preview.

The central today's match (April 27, 2021) is the first Champions League semi-final match between Real Madrid and Chelsea.
The Corner-stats.com team has prepared some important points to consider when analyzing the match:
 - For Real, today's match will be the 46th of the season, while Chelsea will play its 51st match;
 - in parallel with the Champions League, both Real and Chelsea are fighting a difficult fight in the national championships (Real for the 1st place, Chelsea for the Champions League zone);
 - at the beginning of the year, Chelsea changed coach, under whose leadership the team has already played 21 matches. At the same time, the team's performance has dropped significantly (avg. total goals is only 1.71). You can check other Chelsea stats with a new coach on the match page using the Current Coach tool https://corner-stats.com/real-madrid-chelsea-27-04-2021/uefa-champions-league-europe/match/ 368406
 - in the 1st quarterfinal match of the Champions League against Liverpool (at home 3-1) Real completely dominated in the 1st half, having much more shots, crosses, tackles, corners and dangerous chances, in the 2nd half the game was statistically more or less equal;
 - in the 1st quarterfinal match of the Champions League against Porto (away 2-0) Chelsea lost in the 1st half on shots 8-1, corners 7-2, crosses 12-7, tackles 9-6, while won 1 half 1-0. In the second half, the game was statistically approximately equal;
 - referee of the match D. Makelli has an average total cards (1+2) of 5.17 in international matches (compared to 3.32 in the Dutch Eredivisie).
We wish you interesting statistical findings and good football!

Arsenal of London this season has:
  - the lowest team total fouls (9.19),
  - the lowest team total throw-ins (17.47),
  - the lowest team total tackles (12.28),
  - the second lowest team total aerials (13.88).
The team seems to be avoiding pressuring opponents altogether. What are your assumptions about today's match between Arsenal and Everton?

Preview of "super league" teams play (matches for 21/04/2021)

Surely you've heard of all the hype surrounding the creation of a new Super League soccer tournament where the top 20 clubs from Europe are to compete. But now, judging by the latest results, the invited teams do not quite confirm the status of the best.
In their last matches, only Atletico Madrid won with a large score (5-0), Milan and Manchester United barely put the squeeze on their opponents in 2 half (2-1 and 3-1), but all the other potential representatives of the Super League (Arsenal, Chelsea , Liverpool, Tottenham, Juventus, Inter, Real) failed to win against far from top teams or even lost.
Today (Wednesday 21 April) 6 "super league" teams (Juventus, Inter, Milan, Manchester City, Tottenham, Real) will play their next matches in the leagues. It seems that the incomprehensible situation with the Super League does not quite favorably affect the game of its possible participants.
What other factors should be considered in today's matches:
 - busy schedule of teams. Due to the late starts of the championships, teams play on tight schedules. This is especially true for top teams, many of which, in addition to league matches, will have to play decisive matches in the national cup, as well as in the Champions League and Europa League. As you can see, the teams strive to get points "with little blood", saving power.
 Earlier, we noted a decrease in the intensity of the teams' play after the quarantine pause (read about it here https://corner-stats.com/teams-stats-comparison-before-and-after-the-quarantine/info/319). In that case, all statistics, except for corners, were lower after the quarantine than before the quarantine. It is quite possible that a similar situation awaits us now.
 - rotation of squads. Teams are forced to use substitutes to give the main players an opportunity to rest. This factor should worsen the mutual understanding of the players on the field, while more rejects, inaccurate passes and ridiculous mistakes can be expected. It is quite possible that the lack of play of strikers and midfielders will lead to more offsides.
 In spite of everything, the Corner-stats.com team wishes you good football and interesting stats insights!

About Corner-stats.com service / Corners statistic tool
« on: April 21, 2021, 09:18:23 AM »
You've probably noticed that betting on corners is quite popular in the bookmaker's line, although the corners themselves are just a "side effect" of other purposeful actions of football players (shots, crosses, clearences, interceptions, etc.). This is primarily due to the fact that, unlike shots, fouls, possession, etc., corners are the easiest to determine and count. Many bookmakers offer a variety of bets on corners: the outcome of the match by corners, the number (total) of corners, which team will be the first to take a corner, handicap on corners, which team will be the first to take X corners, and others. The Corner-stats service allows you to customize a selection of matches and football statistics of corners in the way you need to analyze a specific type of bet.

Discussions about the football matches / Champions League previews

04/14/2021. Liverpool - Real Madrid. Champions League. Team statistics when you need to recoup.

The main football event on Wednesday April 14th is, of course, the Champions League quarter-finals return leg.

Usually, the match starts with a score of 0-0, but in two-legged confrontations, teams start the second leg with the score of the 1st match (in addition, the away goal rule must be taken into account).

Thus, Liverpool faces a difficult task today, as the team lost in the 1st match to Real Madrid 1-3.
When analyzing a Liverpool-Real match, the Corner-stats.com team suggests looking at the Match Intervals tool. Since Liverpool must win back today, the statistics of the team when it was losing in a match and had to win back, will be much more useful for us. We can get these statistics using the Match Intervals tools of the Corner-stats.com service.

Let's go to the Liverpool page and in the Match intervals filter we will select the loss intervals (we leave a limit of the last 20 matches of the team). Thus, we will get the statistics of the team on the intervals when it was losing in a match, by all indicators.

Having studied the statistics obtained, it can be noted that on the intervals of the match, when a team was losing, Liverpool has low total goals (1.85), a huge advantage on corners and throw-ins (+6.64 and +11.44), but surprisingly negative difference on shots on target (-1.85 ). At the same time, the average total fouls is 17.53, and the average total offsides is 3.87.

We hope our post was helpful to you. Enjoy watching the match!
