Manchester United 30-0 record on the intervals when the team was winning

Greetings to all football fans! We hope you did not miss the return of the English Premier League, because yesterday the Premier League teams held their first matches after the quarantine.

In March, the Corner-stats.com team wrote about very interesting statistical trend for Manchester United team, namely, how the team plays when it starts to win in a match. Today we want to talk in more detail about this, because on Friday 19/06/2020 Manchester United will hold its first match after the quarantine.

So, in the last 24 matches, after Manchester United began to win in a match, the team scored 30 goals, without losing a single goal!

We believe that this achievement is primarily a consequence of the correct work of the team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjer. The total amount of time when Manchester United was winning and at the same time didn't concede a goal is 818 minutes!

Consider the last matches of Manchester United:

 - 12/03/20 against Linz: Manchester United started to win on the 28th minute, after this the team scored 4 more goals and did not concede a goal;
 - 08/03/20 against Man City: Manchester United started to win on the 30th minute, after this the team scored 1 more goal and did not concede a goal;
 - 05/03/20 against Derby: Manchester United started to win on the 33th minute, after this the team scored 3 more goals and did not concede a goal;
 - 01/03/20 against Everton: there was no interval in the match when Manchester United led the game (this match does not count).

Recall that to analyze team statistics at intervals, when it was winning, playing a draw or losing, is possible with the tool Match intervals of the service of football stats Corner-stats.com.

We hope this review has been helpful to you. If you also found interesting statistical trends, you can share them on our forum.

Teams stats comparison before and after the quarantine

Corner-stats.com team is back in touch!

Almost all the football championships that were about to finish the season have already resumed matches after the quarantine. As you probably know, some additional rules were introduced for football matches: up to 5 substitutions are allowed (instead of 3), a pause in the middle of halves for a watering hole, punishment for excessive emotions of football players and others. If you add to this the fact that matches are played in summer at elevated temperatures, then this of course affects the style of play of the teams and their statistics.

Using the Corner-stats.com football statistics service, you can very easily analyze the statistics of a team or tournament after the quarantine and compare it with the pre-quarantine period. To do this, just use the filter by date on the team or tournament page:

Consider the application of this filter on the example of the English Premier League. The first match in EPL after the quarantine was played on 17/06/2020, so we’ll select this date in the "Date From" filter. To display the statistics of EPL before the quarantine, let's select the date 16/06/2020 in the "Date To" filter. Compare the performance in EPL before the quarantine and after the quarantine:

                           Goals 1 h/g Corners Cards Shots o/t Offsides Tackles Throw-ins
Before quarantine  2.72    1.24    10.87    3.82    8.81    3.49      33.66    44.48
After quarantine    2.16    0.63    11.42    2.84    7.0      2.84      30.75    42.08

As can be seen from the table, all the indicators of the teams, except the corners, fell significantly after the quarantine, that is, the teams play less intense football.

Please note that using the filter "Date from - Date to" you can study the statistics of the tournament for a variety of periods (start of a season, end of a season, matches in winter, etc.), and it can also be used separately for a team in the context of all its tournaments.

We hope you have found useful information from our preview. You can discuss it in our Telegram group. Have a good football!

Statistical analysis of corners in EPL (general analysis, by parts of the season, by ratios of indicators, by match intervals)

The team of football statistics service Corner-stats.com welcomes all football fans in anticipation of the start of English Premier League, Spanish LaLiga and other championships.
The purpose of this preview is to analyze the statistics of corners in the Premier League of England in the season 2019/20, and we will do this using a variety of tools for statistics analysis of the service Corner-stats.com.
General analysis
First, let's take a look at the summary table of corners stats for the 2019/20 season (https://corner-stats.com/premier-league/england/tournament/1). Among the leaders on corners we see teams such as Manchester City, Chelsea, Leicester and Liverpool, which attack a lot and sharply, as well as Wolverhampton, which does not take too many corners, but also does not allow opponents to take corners.
In terms of analysis of corners at home and away, we would like to highlight the teams Aston Villa and Sheffield United, which are much better at serving corners at home than at away, but Southampton, surprisingly, has much better results on corners at away.
Users of the Corner-stats.com service have the opportunity to compare the statistics of teams within a tournament separately by halves, 15-minutes intervals, or form any interval (from a minute to a minute of a match). We think it will not be difficult for you to understand these tools and determine right statistical trends.

Relations of indicators
So, we have identified the leaders on corners in the Premier League in the previous season, and there is nothing strange that among them there are mainly teams that have a lot of ball possession, attack and shoot on goal. However, we can neutralize these factors using the Corner-stats.com website's tool Relations of indicators. If we compare the teams in terms of the team percentage of ball possession / team corners, then among the leaders we will see Sheffield United (7.7% of possession for 1 corner) and Aston Villa (8.32% for 1 corner), while Manchester City is only in 3rd place, and Liverpool generally in the middle of the table. In terms of team shots / team corners, Sheffield United is also in the 1st place (the team needs 1.66 shots on average for 1 corner), while Manchester United has the worst rate (2.67 shots for 1 corner).

Total corners
Let's compare teams in terms of total corners in a match. The leader on this indicator is Arsenal (12.11 on avg.), but note that Arsenal had a lot of corners only under coach Unai Emery in the first half of the season (13.42), and after the appointment as head coach of Arteta, Arsenal's total corners decreased to the league average (10.86). We wrote more about this in our preview: https://corner-stats.com/filter-by-the-current-coach-of-a-team/info/311  The smallest total corners in Wolverhampton (8.97), which, as we noted above, delivers little corners and allows little to deliver opponents.
In addition, we want to note that in the first matches after the quarantine, the Premier League teams were delivering more corners (11.42 on average), we wrote about this in detail in our preview: https://corner-stats.com/teams-stats-comparison-before-and%20-after-the-quarantine/info/319  As a reminder, using the "Date from - Date to" filter, you can study the statistics of a tournament for various periods (the beginning of the season, the end of the season, matches in winter, matches after the quarantine, etc.).
Match intervals analysis
And finally, let's analyze how the teams were delivering corners in different situations in a match, namely, when the team was leading, playing in a draw or was losing. To do this, use the Match Intervals filter: https://corner-stats.com/match-intervals-filter-functionality-expanded/info/313  So, we have 3 clear leaders on corners on intervals when there was a draw in a match - Manchester City (+5.45), Liverpool (+2.72), Chelsea (+4.55). There is a very noticeable difference in corners of Manchester City when the team was winning (7.28 total corners and +2.43 handicap on corners), and when it was losing during a match (16.43 total and +12.4 handicap). But Newcastle is consistently losing on corners regardless of the score in a match (-2.09 at winning intervals, -3.09 at draw intervals, -2.03 at losing intervals).

We also draw your attention to the fact that none of the Premier League teams changed their coach before the start of the 2020/21 season, which is a positive factor in favor of maintaining the statistical trends of the teams of the last season.
Once again, congratulations to everyone on the start of the new football season, and we hope that our Premier League corners stats preview will help you to dig deeper into the team statistics and make money on it. Have a nice football!

Odds calculation on corners for Chelsea - Sheffield United match

The Corner-stats.com team once again welcomes all football statistics fans. Last week, our service was replenished with a new statistics analysis tool Bookmakers line calculation https://corner-stats.com/a-tool-of-bookmaker-line-calculation-developed/info/337 . And today, with its help, we will try to calculate the line on corners in the match Chelsea - Sheffield United.

Sheffield managed to tackle points at Chelsea last season (2-2 draw), but Chris Wilder's team is in terrible shape right now, making Chelsea the clear favorite in the match.

So, let's open the Corners tab on the match page https://corner-stats.com/chelsea-sheff-utd-07-11-2020/premier-league-england/match/339981 and go to the last matches of the teams. The button for calculating the bookmaker's line is located on the right next to the table of contents of Chelsea matches. By default, the individual totals of the teams (expected corners) are taken to calculate the line:
Expected corners Chelsea = Team total Chelsea + Opponents total Sheffield / 2
Expected corners of Sheffield = Team total Sheffield + Opponents total Chelsea / 2

But first, let's correct the teams' match samples. We will exclude the group of tournaments Other (clubs friendlies), and take only home matches for Chelsea, and only away matches for Sheffield. Thus, we get a couple of expected corners of the teams 6.15 - 4.25, which will be used by default in the calculation of the line:

In addition, Corner-stats.com draws your attention to the fact that Sheffield has the best ratio of team possession to team corners this season in EPL (1.87% possession per 1 corner), so we will add another 0.25 corners to Sheffield. Thus, we have the following line on corners in the match Chelsea - Sheffield United:

So, we got a base total of 10.5, like the bookmakers, but the base handicap of -1.5 differs from the bookmaker's one (-3.5), which says to bet on +3.5 on corners.

Please note that in this line calculation, we took into account the field (home-away) factor, as well as the Sheffield's ball possession to corners ratio. But there may be other important factors for you, for example, you can calculate the line based on similar matches or limit the samples of matches to the current season only, or increase the expected corners of one of the teams manually (for example, due tothe presence of high forwards in the lineup).

Discuss the match Chelsea - Sheffield United you may in our group in Telegram https://t.me/soccer_stats_and_bet. Have a nice football!

Arsenal of London this season has:
  - the lowest team total fouls (9.19),
  - the lowest team total throw-ins (17.47),
  - the lowest team total tackles (12.28),
  - the second lowest team total aerials (13.88).
The team seems to be avoiding pressuring opponents altogether. What are your assumptions about today's match between Arsenal and Everton?
