Teams stats comparison before and after the quarantine

Corner-stats.com team is back in touch!

Almost all the football championships that were about to finish the season have already resumed matches after the quarantine. As you probably know, some additional rules were introduced for football matches: up to 5 substitutions are allowed (instead of 3), a pause in the middle of halves for a watering hole, punishment for excessive emotions of football players and others. If you add to this the fact that matches are played in summer at elevated temperatures, then this of course affects the style of play of the teams and their statistics.

Using the Corner-stats.com football statistics service, you can very easily analyze the statistics of a team or tournament after the quarantine and compare it with the pre-quarantine period. To do this, just use the filter by date on the team or tournament page:

Consider the application of this filter on the example of the English Premier League. The first match in EPL after the quarantine was played on 17/06/2020, so we’ll select this date in the "Date From" filter. To display the statistics of EPL before the quarantine, let's select the date 16/06/2020 in the "Date To" filter. Compare the performance in EPL before the quarantine and after the quarantine:

                           Goals 1 h/g Corners Cards Shots o/t Offsides Tackles Throw-ins
Before quarantine  2.72    1.24    10.87    3.82    8.81    3.49      33.66    44.48
After quarantine    2.16    0.63    11.42    2.84    7.0      2.84      30.75    42.08

As can be seen from the table, all the indicators of the teams, except the corners, fell significantly after the quarantine, that is, the teams play less intense football.

Please note that using the filter "Date from - Date to" you can study the statistics of the tournament for a variety of periods (start of a season, end of a season, matches in winter, etc.), and it can also be used separately for a team in the context of all its tournaments.

We hope you have found useful information from our preview. You can discuss it in our Telegram group. Have a good football!

22/06/2020. Villarreal - Sevilla (Spain). Similar matches stats

We welcome all fans of football statistics, as well as those who want to make money on it!

Today, the Corner-stats.com team will demonstrate the use of our tool Similar Matches. Recall that the Similar matches block contains team matches with opponents approximately equal in strength to the current one.

So, on Monday, 22/06/2020, in the Spanish LaLiga, a match between Villarreal and Sevilla will be played. Bookmakers put up an approximately equal line for the match, not giving preference to any of the teams. According to the results of 29 rounds, the average total goals of Villarreal is 2.9, for Sevilla - 2.48.

Now consider the statistics of the teams in matches with similar opponents (when there was no clear favorite in a match). Over the past 2 seasons, Villarreal has had 18 similar matches, the average total goals in which is 2.17 (9 matches on under 2.5, 9 matches on over 2.5), Sevilla has the number of similar matches of 15 with the average total goals of 1.8 (12 matches on under 2.5, 3 matches on over 2.5).

Thus, we can conclude that in matches when there is no clear favorite, the teams act more carefully than usual and do not score many goals.

We hope this preview has been helpful to you. Enjoy watching the match!

Manchester United 30-0 record on the intervals when the team was winning

Greetings to all football fans! We hope you did not miss the return of the English Premier League, because yesterday the Premier League teams held their first matches after the quarantine.

In March, the Corner-stats.com team wrote about very interesting statistical trend for Manchester United team, namely, how the team plays when it starts to win in a match. Today we want to talk in more detail about this, because on Friday 19/06/2020 Manchester United will hold its first match after the quarantine.

So, in the last 24 matches, after Manchester United began to win in a match, the team scored 30 goals, without losing a single goal!

We believe that this achievement is primarily a consequence of the correct work of the team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjer. The total amount of time when Manchester United was winning and at the same time didn't concede a goal is 818 minutes!

Consider the last matches of Manchester United:

 - 12/03/20 against Linz: Manchester United started to win on the 28th minute, after this the team scored 4 more goals and did not concede a goal;
 - 08/03/20 against Man City: Manchester United started to win on the 30th minute, after this the team scored 1 more goal and did not concede a goal;
 - 05/03/20 against Derby: Manchester United started to win on the 33th minute, after this the team scored 3 more goals and did not concede a goal;
 - 01/03/20 against Everton: there was no interval in the match when Manchester United led the game (this match does not count).

Recall that to analyze team statistics at intervals, when it was winning, playing a draw or losing, is possible with the tool Match intervals of the service of football stats Corner-stats.com.

We hope this review has been helpful to you. If you also found interesting statistical trends, you can share them on our forum.

Preview of AC Horsens (Denmark): prematch and live bets

Congratulations to all fans on the new football weekend!
Today, the Corner-stats.com team decided to analyze the team Horsens, which plays in the Danish SuperLeague. According to the results of the first stage of the championship, the team took 8th place and fell into one of the groups of 4 teams that will fight for survival in the SuperLeague, and also have a chance to get into Europa League. On Saturday, June 13, Horsens will play their first match against Hobro at away.

General trends

First, let's pay attention to some statistical trends of the team following the results of the 1st stage of the championship. So, the team was in the middle of the table, but at the same time it took the last place on shots on target (4 wins, 5 draws, 17 losses), and also has one of the worst differences in possession of the ball (-11.54%). In addition, Horsens has the smallest total offsides of the entire match (2.69) and the smallest team total offsides (1.38).

Main markets

Using the filter Match Intervals, we analyze how the team plays with different outcomes of a match. So, according to statistics, Horsens shows the best game if there is a draw in a match (+0.15 avg. difference, 2.89 avg. total). Corner-stats.com website has an additional opportunity to limit the intervals of a match starting from the selected minute. Thus, if we consider the intervals when the match was a draw after the half-time break, then we get avg. difference of +0.71 at avg. total of 3.56. From this it is logical to conclude that Horsens does not seek to save a draw and plays to win. On intervals, when Horsens is winning in a match, we see a completely different picture: 2.02 avg. total and -0.67 avg. difference, that is, the team goes into the dead defense after scoring a goal, but still often misses it. Also, things are not very good for the team if it starts to lose in a match (-1.66 avg. goal difference, 2.84 avg. total).

Corners

The use of the Match Intervals filter for corners confirms the fact that the team plays defensive football if it starts to win in a match (-3.61 avg. difference on corners, 13.5 avg. total on corners). But if a match is a draw or Horsens is losing, the statistics on corners are approximately equal (-0.09 average difference on corners, 10.13 average total on corners).

So, we analyzed the Horsens team for pre-match bets, as well as bets during the game. We hope that it will not be difficult for you to draw the right conclusions based on this analysis and to benefit from it. Also, do not forget that 2 teams play in a football match, and it is advisable to conduct a similar analysis for the opponent.

Have a nice football weekend!
